Finance Manager

Ensure Hallmark’s International businesses meet their internal and external financial responsibilities, delivering the best outcome for the business at both a local and global level; whilst ensuring rigor and meeting all deadlines. Develop, maintain and govern financial controls, ensuring that they are consistently applied by the wider business.



  • Identify, manage, mitigate and communicate operational and financial risks and process changes
  • Understand and be an expert on processes.  Liaise with international stakeholders to understand business changes and strategy and take responsibility to amend processes to ensure accounting remains accurate and timely.
  • Work with local and international stakeholders to provide variance analysis with meaningful, insightful commercial commentary
  • Provide excellent financial stewardship over international assets
  • Identify, recommend and actively participate in process improvement projects as per the ISSC continuous improvement culture.
  • Develop the reporting, understanding and action plans around team KPIs and process controls as per Service Management Framework.
  • Display and instill a service culture and customer service orientation in the team.
  • Provide timely and accurate monthly results to agreed group timescales and in line with agreed group accounting policy
  • Plan and prioritise your own workload to ensure deadlines are achieved; queries are resolved quickly and efficiently.
  • Manage internal and external stakeholder relationships that impact your monthly processes
  • Deliver an excellent service by working with local and international colleagues, monitoring completion of accounting tasks
  • Produce reporting packs for internal stakeholders in line with required deadlines, plus any other adhoc reporting as required.
  • Ensure compliance with global policies
  • Responsible for  Balance Sheet accounts, including review of reconciliations and ensuring adequate assurance activities have occurred, commercial and transactional completeness of commentary, and summarisation of key items
  • Manage the Shared Service involvement in the internal and external audit; developing and maintaining financial controls and ensuring they are consistently applied.
  • Ensure cash and bank facilities are fit for business needs and highlight/forecast any issues; first point of contact with our banking partners.
  • Take the lead on learning and development activities, including setting a personal development plan for yourself and your team.
  • Ensure that working processes are documented, standardised, modified in a controlled manner, waste eliminated and the value stream map for the area updated.


This role will report to the International Head of Accounting and will be responsible for a team of 2.  The successful candidate will join a strong team of accountants who are responsible for the International group of Hallmark businesses covering the UK, Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Japan and Australia, so communication will be an essential part of the role. 


Focus will be on financial stewardship, risk identification and mitigation, accurate production and consolidation of month/year end results, as well as the timely communication of these results to our stakeholders.


Person Spec:

  • Educated to relevant degree level or equivalent qualification, qualified accountant via ACA/ACCA/CIMA
  • Significant experience in Management Accounting and managing a month end process
  • Experience in line management
  • Challenges the business to do the right thing
  • Comfortable in stakeholder relationships
  • Influences positively and prioritises appropriately
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Language skills are an advantage but not essential (Dutch)


Preferred experience:

  • Previous experience gained in a Shared Service Centre environment.
  • Previous experience in a service oriented culture including working with SLAs.
  • Previous experience with working in a culture of continuous improvement.
